Cookie Cutter Stained Glass

I used to make edible stained glass with my children using metal cookie cutters and clear hard candy. Put parchment paper or a silicon mat on a baking sheet, spray with vegetable oil your favorite cookie cutters and place on the baking sheet. Finally, fill the cookie cutters with different colored candy. Melt the candy for 5 to 8 minutes in a 320 degree oven. Let your masterpieces cool and remove from the cookie sheet.
Here is another recipe for stained glass treats.
This is a quick and easy gift too.

Make a Last Minute Gift

Maple Glazed Almonds
All you need to make this gift are a few items from your local market.
You’ll need vegetable oil or Earth Balance “butter”, rum or almond extract, maple syrup and nuts (almonds, walnuts or pecans).
Heat at medium high heat in a frying pan or wok, 2 tablespoons of oil with 1/4 cup of maple syrup, stir until bubbling. Add about 1 cup of nuts and 1 teaspoon of rum, stir until the syrup starts to crystallize and adheres to the nuts.
Remove from heat and spread on a pan lined with parchment paper or waxed paper. If you wish, you can sprinkle the mixture with cinnamon, nutmeg or ginger.
Cool and pack into containers for a wonderful gift.
