Colorado History

Studying history during your summer vacation is a wonderful way to introduce your child visually to the past. Our past is a foudnation of our present culture. Here are some web sites for Colorado history.
The Western Mining Museum is a favorite for children. They actually have orginal mining equipment that still works.
Colorado Mining and Mineral Museums and Mine Tours has information for other Colorado locations to visit.
Ghost Towns are a great way to show how the gold rush attracted people to the Rocky Mountain region. Many of these old towns are off the main roads. Here is a map and list of the Ghost Towns of Colorado.
The Colorado Historical Society has a site for events, programs and historical sites.
Colorado has many parks and historical sites you can find at the National Park website.
